I studiously paid zero attention, then saw the trailer. It frankly looks hilarious, and I have warned my federal government gene scientist daughter that if she doesn't go see it and report, I am going to get into her toy box, count the Barbies and put it out on social media.
I think it is more a case of Baz Luhrmann meets "Peewee's Big Adventure." Honestly, the trailer strikes me as really funny. This aging Boomer grew up in the heart of the Mattel rules era-- the 60s, and no, I never had any use for G.I. Joe, either.

It certainly is getting a lot of press, V/S Oppenheimer. Now to me, the interest would be in the latter, but who knows, they might both be good( although I can not conceive of any interest in a Barbie movie.

Well, nobody is putting out any other movies or at least not very many! The whole industry is falling apart. The actors are dying to get jobs. Look how many actors are now making commercials just to earn a few bucks. The TV shows and sitcoms are the same way----THEY SUCK!!!!!

Went to see Oppenheimer last week. Great movie. Barbie was in the theater next door. There was maybe 25 people in ours. Barbie was packed. Says a lot about the average American these days.

Like I said, says a lot about the average American…… Good forbid they should educate themselves about a turning point in world history- the dawn of the atomic age and nuclear weapons...

The actress who plays Barbie is also the producer and stands to make at least 50 million on the movie. BTW, there is a new Barbie doll coming out. She is "Divorced Barbie". She costs a fortune but comes with all of Ken's stuff and one of his friends.

I liked Margo Robbie in "Once upon a time in Hollywood" where she portrayed Sharon Tate.I was dreading the ending as I lived through the real thing in 69, but Tarantino came through again with a different twist of an ending.Much as I don't care for "pretty boy actors" Brad Pitt + Leonardo De Caprio, it was a damn good movie.
