Which part, where he was sleeping w/ a gun handy or that he was having nightmares about being attacked? Just this year a retired local judge was gunned down in his own home, so possibly justified in his keeping a gun handy at home? Especially in IL.

Why the IL state wants to charge him with crimes is beyond me though.

Shoot straight, shoot often.

What I find interesting about this is that years ago, I used to have a recurring nightmare where I needed to shoot a handgun to protect myself and I struggled mightily, but could not pull the trigger.
It was just too hard. So I always died in my dream, because I couldn't pull the trigger.

After a while I did look into this and found out that while we are asleep, the brain shuts down the motor skills so we can't hurt ourselves when we dream. That's why I couldn't pull the trigger in my dream. I wonder what happened with this guy, but he definitely shouldn't be prosecuted for shooting himself accidentally.

I have had those dreams as well as walking dreams, where I can't find anything recognizable in a city that I should know. I always wake up tired, after that.
