E-mail servers have algorithms that can identify and discard 99% of junk mail, but the phone companies can't write one to do the same to Robocalls?

99% of my calls are telemarketers. The ones that really chap my ass are the faxes offering investment opportunities. My phone + fax are the same #+ I have extensions in my shop + home. These calls come in around 3:00 in the AM.Wakes me up + then burns up my fax ribbon on their sxxt. I called + called to get some relief on this + finally went as far as the AG's office. Standard response,We can't do anything because it's coming out of Canada.I loved the Lady's response, she said,"I never said this but since you have their fax # I would just send them back several sheets of black const. paper + use up their ribbon."Sweet Lady that thinks along the same lines as me.

So charge a penny a call, and make more money off them; maybe the lowest of the low-lifes will quit and find jobs.

I will not name names but when my son was in the sandbox in communications, seems that Ma Bell was charging these kids $20.00 svc. charge to call home. One of my son's buddies had worked for Bell before he enlisted + knew thew the coordinents on their satellites + allowed the kids to call home for free.I felt that very heart warming.

Telephone Consumer Protection Act

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wik...otection_Act_of_1991

The federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act, also known as the TCPA, was passed by Congress in response to an increasing number of consumer complaints about telemarketer and debt collector phone calls. The primary purpose of the TCPA is to reduce the number of nuisance calls. But also, and perhaps more importantly, it works to protect the consumer's right to privacy.

You can recover $500 for each violation.

Sounds great but it just pulls up lawyers in my area. In my experience lawyers want to get paid up front. Why should I have to pay an attorney for something that should not be happening anyway?

Sign up for www.nomorobo.com. They detect spam calls and delete them after one ring on your phone. Not 100% but they get the vast majority of my nuisance calls. Just remember to never answer your phone on the first ring.

We have no robocalls here.

They are banned!

We do get calls from companies promoting their products, but, it is very easy to block their numbers, so one never gets a call again from that company.

Same for SMS adverts.

You can block ALL SMS adverts with one message.

Or you can selectively block each one, as each message has a code.

Unlicensed commercial calls get disconnected, and if the company persists, their phones are disconnected, and that is the end of it.
