I have to agree with you. Since retiring, in the past year we've watched some amazing sights in our backyard.

1. Hummingbirds doing there thing.
2. Turtles moving between water sources and laying eggs. Then squirrels digging the eggs up and eating them.
3. Red-bellied Woodpeckers and starlings battling over nesting rights after the woodpecker hollowed-out a nest in a dead weeping willow. The starling got first rights, followed by the woodpecker later, but then just as they settled back in, the whole thing came down as a heavy storm snapped the top 10' of the tree off, right through the weak point, the woodpeckers hollowed-out nest.
4. A Coopers Hawk strafing the bird feeder, isolating a tit mouse between himself and the back porch, nailing the phoebe in mid-air and enjoying his treat on a nearby limb.
5. A cedar waxwing bouncing off the window hard enough to kill him.
6. The game of wits between myself and the squirrels and crows trying to monopolize the bird feeders.

Mother Nature can be a bitch. It ain't all hugs and kisses courtesy of Walt Disney.
