Last night driving home there was a deer stuck in a tree "root ball" sticking out of a cut bank. Originally thought the deer had strangled and was dead because at this point he was slouched over but I noticed his back legs still had some tone in them so maybe he wasn't "completely dead" as Billy Crystal would have said. So I stop and go over to get his antlers unlocked and then he comes back to life at the last second when his head starts popping free, and instead of lunging forward and up the hill in the direction he was pointed he wheels around and charges 15 feet in the other direction straight into my car, antlers first! Then he decides to turn around and go into the woods. Left a ding and a crease in the fender right above the right front tire + knocked the paint off. Moronic & ungrateful SOB! for every hour in front of the computer you should have 3 hours outside

Yes indeed! I was in Georgetown last week + when one goes in the Seenada sub div you need to drive slow as most of the folks feed the deer + they are everywhere.I was driving in and a herd were feeding in this flower bed. well I guessed I spooked them cause they took off in every direction like striped ass apes.I had to lock up my brakes to keep from hitting this doe;she instead ran head first into my rear quarter panel + left a sizeable dent. I watched in the rear view + she was taking off O.K. but I'll bet she had one helluva headache. Never mistake motion for action.

Many years ago my wife went to pick up our daughter from work. It was October and I warned my wife to watch out for deer as the rut was just starting to kick in. As she was motoring down a stretch of unlit highway, she felt a LARGE bang and a split second later another equally LARGE bang. A huge buck deer for a Central Texas deer ran into the side of her Acura's front fender, then spun and hit the side of the Acura, then hit the rear fender, and ran off into the brush along the side of the road. She picked up our daughter and very carefully drove home. The entire left side of her Integra was wiped out. We called the Willamson County Sheriff's Dept. and reported the incident. Later Carol and I went to look for the buck and if found and still alive put him out of his misery. We were greeted at the site by a deputy sheriff who was also looking for the buck, I am sure that his reasons were truly altruistic to save an animals suffering. The fact that the buck had a huge rack had absolutely nothing to do with either the deputy's or our attempts to locate the suffering animals do end his misery. We did not find a single sign of the buck aside from the hair and a small amount of blood on Carol's Acura. I hope he sired many babies and lived a long and fruitful life. Jerry

You're lucky, you weren't his target. Grizz Indeed, no human being has yet lived under conditions which, considering the prevailing climates of the past, can be regarded as normal. Some years ago my Dad was motoring down the highway when he noticed two cars stopped in the road way as he came to a stop he noticed a large buck standing on the white line. Just then the buck stepped back a couple feet and proceeded to attack the front car a couple of times. Then the deer turned around and walked off. Leaving some decent size dents in the car it attack.

In the early 80''s I had several of the high school senior kids that wanted to learn metal work come to my shop where they could go to school half a day + work half a day.Anyway this one kid after leaving was going into Austin on a date + hit a deer in his VW. He did'nt want to leave the meat + having no room in the front boot he strapped the "dead" deer into the passenger seat.Well long story short he was downtown on Congress Avenue when said deer woke up.Left to the imagination it is comical but was damned sure dangerous. Here he was in traffic with a deer in a seat belt thrashing to get loose + Mickey trying to drive + stab this deer to death at the same time.He finally did but when he came to work the next day the inside of his car looked like a charnel house. Never mistake motion for action.
