FjoldI hate the internet
There's a guy arguing on another forum that he shot a bear out of a tree with a 175 grain corelock from his 7 magnum through the brain.
The bear fell out of the tree and ran 1/4 mile and needed three more shots to finish it.

p dog shooterThere is a lot of head around a bears skull that can be hit and still miss the brain.
Saw it personally a 220gr 308 passed between the eye socket and the cranially cavity missing the brain.
A almost straight up angle.
Bear dropped like a rock bounced when it hit the ground took of running. Several shots and half a mile later dead bear.
Stuff happens after you pull the trigger

Bill/OregonFrank, I'm with you, mostly. But let us not forget the curious case of Mr. Phineas Gage.
