Saw a great documentary on PBS last night. The title was The Mayo Clinic - Faith, Hope, Science by Ken Burns. https://www.pbs.org/video/the-...hope-science-czhdtb/ If you get a chance, watch it. A great story.

As much as I have heard about the Mayo Clinic, I never knew the background story. What an amazing family! The Nuns that went from teachers to nurses were very inspirational and essential to Mayo's sucess. I know there has to be doctors that are this dedicated to humanity, but the Mayo's stand at the top of the heap. Excellent documentary.

Ever heard of St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital? Founded by Danny Thomas in 1962 I believe.

"St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, founded in 1962, is a pediatric treatment and research facility focused on children's catastrophic diseases, particularly leukemia and other cancers. The hospital costs about $2.4 million a day to run, and there is no cost to the patient to be treated.[1] It is located in Memphis, Tennessee, and is a nonprofit medical corporation designated as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization by the Internal Revenue Service."

I haven't seen it, but talked to my daughter, Anne, tonight, who graduated from UT Austin in May as a biomedical engineer and went to work for Epic Systems in Madison. She has been given, as one of her jobs, the liason between Epic and Mayo's computer systems to make sure they are interfacing correctly. She is hoping to go to Singapore for her next assignment. Call me a proud Daddy.

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.

My grandparents always drove to the Mayo Clinic from central IL. They always got great care. I was up there once or twice when my grandfather had colon cancer for the second time.
