There is simply no excuse for the selfish tempers that flare at public boat ramps.

Funny.

I am in Sweden, and I cannot access the article.

Because the website cannot meet the data protection rules from here!

But, regardless, I know exactly what you mean Bill.

People are killing each other for the silliest of arguments!

The murder victim was a father of young boys and a well-liked member of the Oregon Hunters Association. It is tragic the sense of entitlement some people have at popular boat ramps. I'd like to know more about what started the argument. It could even have been the murder victim's Oregon license plates, for all I know.

Bill, I'd be willing to give you even odds that alcohol was involved. The same DWI laws apply on the water as on the highway, but a lot of folks get out on the lake + start hitting the beer, or harder.

Not true.

It is actually bad for us honest gun owners.

I know so many people who love and use guns.

Here and in other countries.

I don’t know a single one who would do a thing like this, senseless killing.

But to Joe Blogs in the street, this wouldn’t have happened if one did not have a gun.

Therefore it is the guns fault!

Very short article.

Not enough information to draw conclusions yet

I used to ride my bike out to the lake on Sunday mornings and sit on a bench above the boat ramp and watch people launching boats. The show could be amazing at times. Guys trying to 'explain' to their wives how to back up the trailer, guys launching boats the size of the Queen Mary, tying up the whole ramp, etc. Very informative. I got to hear some words used in ways that that I had never heard before.

Went with a friend who was buying a boat in Maine. Traveled up there from L.I. New York. After waiting around for a few hours the boat was finally on the trailer ready to go? I noticed the seller hadn't locked the trailers hitch down on the ball. He said " I know and walked away" -----Later found out he never locked it down and he towed the trailer and boat about 3 miles almost unhitched, could have bounced off the ball at any time.
Got to the ramp and as he was backing down the boat slid off the trailer and landed on the concrete ramp----Kaboom! He never secured the boat to the trailer. Now this was a $125,000.00 boat! Luckily only cosmetic damage.

I guess some people just have to get their heads outa their asses once in a while!

The number one cause of divorce in the United States is caused by husband and wife boat ramp arguments. The wife tries to help the husband back up the boat, screaming starts, and then it’s over.

I’ve seen it with my own eyes and no, it was not me.

I just let the wife back up.

She grew up on a farm anybody that can back up tractors and wagons.

In a straight line can back up a boat.

I don't see boat ramp issues, but Road Rage is out of control around here.

I had a woman pull out in front of me last week when I was going 40 and made me hit the brakes and swerve to keep from hitting her. I guess she was mad at me for her getting scared. She spent the next mile or two slamming on her brakes, hoping to scare me I guess, and sat at a stop sign when there was no cross-traffic, just to be an ass. She does that to the wrong guy and she'll end-up with a name tag on her toe.

Ken, in a situation like that, the Union Pacific "GET OUTTA MY WAY" locomotive horn is a useful accessory ... Cool

Yeah, I've been thinking of getting one of those portable boat horns that run on cans of gas? or compressed air. They are really loud, to use on a**holes that like to text at stop lights and don't wake up when the light turns green.

Ken:

It is the same here in Utah. Besides having the worst drivers in the U.S., our state has become legendary for
speeding and ignorant drivers. Several people have been arrested, hurt, or killed in the past year as a result
of road rage.

Like you, I had an incident a few months back. The light was clearly yellow well before I made it to the intersection.
I guess the lady behind me must have been in a hurry and expected me to run it. She held her horn for several seconds and
stuck her arm out and flipped me off. I pointed my hand at the red light and yes, she gave me another one-finger salute.

I wanted to ask her if she was married as I would have told her how sorry I felt for her husband. However, I never had the chance as
She flew by me, flipped me off again, and was speeding down our main street weaving in and out of traffic.

I thought the same as you. It will be a matter of time until she does that to the wrong person.

Our small town is not so small anymore; there are folks moving in daily + bringing their ways with them, + that includes lousy driving habits. They finally put up stop lights at the 4 way stop in town, but didn't install a left turn arrow. Needless to say, on the 1st day, there were wrecks. Now that is changed + they are debating putting in a roundabout, hell, they can't even get a 4 way stop right, I can only imagine the chaos a roundabout will cause. I would avoid the whole thing, but I can not get to the post office + my bank unless I want to drive 15 miles out of my way + they are trashing HWY 183 there as well.

The traffic engineers I have talked to about roundabouts.

Say they don't reduce the accident rates the reduce the severity of them.

No tee bones. They save on gas and increase traffic flow.

Once the drivers get use to them. They tend to work well.

Here is another stupid one.

I have had a number of traffic accidents.

In every single one, the person at fault is easy to see.

And we have always sorted it out amicably without any arguments!

p dog, once the drivers get used to them, are the keywords. This area, Liberty Hill, Leander, + Georgetown is now the fastest growing in the nation + you can sure tell by the traffic.

I love my good friends response to aggressive driving in the SF Bay Area; he said, "I just let em have it. They want the lane, they want the parking spot, I just let em have it." My friends manhood in no way is maligned by or with petty, incidental commuters umbrage.

I must confess, that when complaining to a friend a few years ago about the traffic increase problems, his response, If you are out in it, then you are part of the problem. Richard can be a real Nazi at times, but he does make you stop + think.
