In Austin I would have to say 'Trudy's Northstar' at Burnet Rd. + HWY 183. They have a Sunday morning buffet that is all you can eat + will even make you pancakes on the side for no additional cost. There are several Trudy's around town but that is the one I'm familiar with that does a breakfast buffet. In the early 70's when student in Austin, several of us would go down to the Shakeys Pizza Parlour at 29th + Guadalupe. They had all you can eat pizza for .89 cents. The more we frequented the place the price kept going up a dime a week until they stopped it altogether.

I haven't eaten at a buffet in ten years. I used to enjoy the Cattle Baron's http://www.cattlebaron.com/ Most familiar with the locations in Ruidoso and Las Cruces, New Mexico. Not crazy about buffets, particularly for ethnic food. I like fresh made food, and buffets generally aren't that fresh.

Wait a minute, I have gone to CC's Pizza here locally once in the last five years. I prefer to stay away from all you can eat, because I generally do.

In High School, Mr. Gatti’s buffet was great and cheap. I don’t think Amy are close by these days.

While visiting in family in Memphis, we would often go to Tunica to gamble. The food mostly sucked.

Almost hate to admit this, but when my daughter was little she begged me to take her to the Golden Corral. It was actually pretty good chow as I remember it.

Nothing wrong with The Trough Bill! You please the whole family there. A while back one of the kids chose that for the birthday dinner. Hit it on prime rib and shrimp night. It wasn't bad, but the price keeps creeping up such that it's not really a bargain any more.

I can relate. When my middle son turned 13 he wanted to go to Red Lobster. Of course I did it.It was edible but for the same money I could have gone to Pappadeaux + had far superior seafood;but that was not the point;the point was that that was where my son wanted to eat on his birthday.

My wife likes going to Goldenm Corral and it really isn't a bad place to go.

I like going to places where they serve crawdads and/or frog legs. Those are my most favorite food groups.

There was some kind of all-you-can-eat on the main drag of Madison, WI that was nice. I can't remember the name of the place but think I could find it again.

My boss likes Golden Corral, he is 80.
I like the Bourbon Street Chicken over rice with the onions/peppers from the fajitas and crumble bacon on top.

Jtex,I could live on chicken livers, mash potatoes + gravy;actually did once upon a time.Of course that was 45 years ago,I'm not sure my heart would handle it now,but oh what a way to go.Much better than setting in the old folks home eating pablum.

Speaking of the self serve ice cream ala D.Q.There used to be a burger joint down here that had that service after your meal. When leaving,my son noticed that the chocolate side was dripping + making a spiral pile;he immediately goes back into the cafe, returns w/ several kernels of corn + some peanuts + inserts them into the brown pile of ice cream;whistling all the while.HOW are you going to teach discipline when you are laughing your ass off?

Fortunately there are many really high class buffets here in Vegas. Andrew Zimmern did a show on them recently. Bellagio is good.

You are so right. In years past I would go to Vegas to enjoy the restaurants + shows;you could eat like a king for a pittance since we know what they draw folks in for. Since I don't gamble it was a win win.

When we were in Vegas a couple of years ago, some guy shot himself in the buffet line, at the Mirage. Must have been bad. Big Grin

We stopped at a new Chinese Buffet in a strip mall near a Hooka parlor near Mechanicsburg PA (don't recall the name, not on Google) that we never payed any attention to before. It was actually pretty good for buffet food. I think it costed us $14.00 each.

1-10 scale as follows.
Duck leg 8.5
Fried pork dumplings almost an 8
Crab rangoons 8
Chicken on a stick 8
Baked salmon 6
Baked whitefish 9.
General Tso's chicken 8.
The steak was terrible. But, plenty else to eat. Didn't eat any bread or starch or sweets.
I'll ask the Wife if she remembers the name.
