188 years ago today marks the fall of the shrine to Texas independence. In the book Lone Star by T.R. Fehrenback, he recalls that at the battle of San Jacinto on April 21st 1836, Deaf Smith rode his dun pony along the river bank, + although many Mexicans were trying to surrender, he shouted the battle cry to the Texan forces, "Take prisoners like the Mexicans do, Remember the Alamo!"
