Anyone dealing with AMD or taking supplemental eye vitamins such as EVOA? My eye surgeon recommended EVOA yesterday. I don't have AMD, but he said the supplements supposedly reduce your odds of developig the condition by 25%. I will probably give them a try. I think they are primarily Omega-3 plus antioxidants. The cost is less than $1.00 a day.

My father is 94 and in a nursing home. He has it in one eye, interesting enough the same eye he had cataract surgery in.

But the optometrist some years ago recommended a pill each day for it. It's called Octutabs, and the OTC version is Waltabs (I think, don't quote me). I asked the internist about it, and he said it's just a vitamin.

The optometrist also recommended I start taking them and double the dose for my father.

Btw, I've got awful floaters in my cataract surgery eye. I have to wait for the cloud to pass before shooting.

I know what you are saying about floaters.

I was working one day in India, in front of my computer about eight years ago and suddenly it was like I got an eyelash in my left eye. I never could get it to clear, went to two specialists, and they said, it's called old-age. They could do some major surgery to try to capture it, but they didn't recommend it.

It was like I had a wind shield wiper in my left eye every time I blinked. Completely ruined my putting ability when playing golf. (I should be happy to have one more excuse the way I play.)

I had the cataract surgery in both eyes about five months ago. The improvement in vision was incredible, but he told me the floaters would still be there as they were internal and the cataracts were on the lens.

The vitamins arrived this weekend. I'll try them for a month or two at least. Like most insurance, it's hard to tell whether it is worth it or not, until you have a train wreck.

many times the floaters can be zapped with a laser eliminating them
