As some of you may know, I ride bicycles competitively. Tuesday, June 10th I fly to Calgary AB. Friday June 13th I will be at the starting line of the Tour Divide. It is the longest mountain bike race in the world. www.tourdivide.org It is 2745 miles and reaches from the start in Banff, to its southern terminus, Antelope Wells, New Mexico at the Mexican border. The race is self supported, you want it, you bring it. Your bike breaks you fix it. No outside assistance, no cheering friends or family and no support vehicle to follow. I am also fundraising in conjunction with this event. A few AR members also know I have a son, Brian who is a Special Olympics athlete. I am raising as much as I can to help support the work this wonderful organization does for the athletes. All funds go direct to them, They never pass through me or anyone else. I am paying all my own expenses as well. Here is my donation page; www.2014ridetoprovide.kintera.org The race, and my personal progress can be followed live, with full personal telemetry on; www.trackleaders.com simply go to the site, go to "Tour Divide" find my "SA" blue dot or scroll to my name on the right side of the screen and see where I am, my current speed, even altitude I am currently at. This is going to be tough, there is 163,000 feet of climbing and we will ride across the continental divide 32 times. My goal is 24 days. (this is posted with Saeed's permission, and I thank him for that) Regards, Steve Formerly "Nganga" | ||
