A good young man could use our help Login/Join

I have a young acquaintance that is a junior in high school that shoots 3 position competitively. He has a decent air rifle, but he is really handicapped. He is left handed and is shooting a RH bolt rifle. He is shooting good scores and is looking to go to Perry later this year. His Mom has been looking for a decent LH rifle for him, but they ain't cheap. Mom has not asked for money, just where can she find a decent rifle that is in their budget. A few of us has taken this on our shoulders to raise enough funds to purchase him a "GREAT" rifle. We've had commitments for about $1000, but need another $2500. If you can help, send a check to the address below.

John works in his family's small dairy farm mucking stalls, hauling hay, and other of the myriad dairy chores.
Thanks to all of you, if you knew this young man, you would love him.

Where's his dad?

His Dad is milking cows. It is what you do in a dairy farm.

I am not a smallbore position shooter and only know what a friend says. It does not have to be a Walther KK500, but similar to it. Macs B, it does need to be left handed. I think the Walther is around $4500 I understand and may be out of reach between us and the parents.
Send me a PM please.

Some folks have asked if the young man worked. a note from his mom.

"John is in charge of the heifers and calves as well as water tanks. He milks sometimes, like this summer we had our 25th wedding anniversary so John milked so we could go away for a few days. Last week he had the flu according to that rapid test, but it was very cold, so fever and all he had to chop open the tanks & ponds. I felt like a bad mom, but life hear is different, the cows depend on him. But I will agree piss/crap tails to the face do suck, & sting".

Sounds like a nice rifle, but I'm not sure what he needs. I will check with him.
Thank you

We have $2000 committed, but none from this forum.
Norman Conquest is the only person interested in helping from this forum.
Kinda disappointed , but I guess not surprised.

Butch, lighten up,we both know that the folks on this site are real stand up guys. The fact that I was willing to GIVE a match rifle to a promising young man should say something of the character of our members.Sorry it's ONLY an Anshutz but I won damn near every match with it.Truth be told,if some one else donates,I would really like to keep her.Just trying to help out a new member of the shooting sports.

Sorry if I offended you. I thought more than a couple guys would stand up.
Your offer of the Anschutz was more than generous I'm sorry about how my post was perceived.

Ok, Our young man will get a Feinwerkebau 2700 rifle. Neal Stepp of ISS was kind enough to give us a very good price on it.
To those that offered and the ones that contributed, thanks very much.

I forgot, John had savings that he contributed to this rifle. It was not a complete gift.

Glad you got it sorted.

3 days isn't a lot of time to be expecting the charity to come pouring in. Some of us still have active lives outside of posting here 100 times a day.

I didn't see it at all until yesterday. But that was after you posted your missive about how disappointed you are at our lack of response. And after I saw that, I thought to myself, "Screw him then."

Sorry I didn't have the one and only rifle you were looking for, but I probably could have sent some cash along. It's way easier to ship cash. I've donated to things like this in the past, but it's been a while.

Anyway, maybe more patience on your part in the future might lead to better results. Just giving you some feedback there 'pard.

Good luck.
