How about Gene Autry, remember those on tv as kids? Can you recall the huge barn he had?

That Flying A ranch with the big barn is just West of Fowler CO, and 2mi S on 62nd lane. Mike Majors owns it now, or did ten years ago. I've hunted the ranch a bunch of times.

There's two Flying A's, this was the main ranch. The "bunk house" is about a mile in between. Never been there except to look at the pond surrounded by brush.

I'd bet that barn is 100' tall and 200' or more long. The pasture is totally treeless and 20,000 acres. Just a drift fence down the middle to spread stock around. Place to the south is 40,000 acres and no fence except around it, no tree's either.

i seen every roy rogers episode there was probably with my RR six guns on, but never a red barn cause all the shows i saw were in BLACK and WHITE. parents had to make a deal with me after complaints were lodged. i could wear the jeans and boots to church, but the dual six guns and holster had to be hung up on the pegs where the men hung their hats in the vestibule on the way in to listen to the propaganda.

Hell John,all we had was black + white then. The red barns were painted that color because it was the cheapest paint.And yes,when going to church I had to surrender my Davy Crockett coon skin cap.

i was remembering all this to a cousin on text sat night and she said that wasn't the worst of it. she remembered how i was also banned from taking any "ammo" (caps) for the six shooters after "you scared the crap out of poor aunt dottie when you shot a cap at a bad guy on the way to alligator plaza downtown one saturday in the car at a stop sign". i honestly don't remember that but she swears her parents, my aunt and uncle, told the story for years laughing their asses off. her husband says he remembers hearing that story a few times too. she remembered also how in the 50s at Hotel Dieu hospital her brother, all of five or so, was walking thru the hallways with his mom to visit someone and saw a small religious statue in an "inset" in the wall and said "momma, whats jesus doing in the shower"?
