For any of you Wisconsin natives; a bit of feedback, please. My youngest son is moving there this summer as his wife is from there + they want to be closer to her parents as they are getting along in age. He's not a big shooter, but he does own a few guns. I'm pretty sure his shotguns won't be any problems, but I bought him a Colt Commander for his 21st birthday many years ago + being here in Texas, it has never been an issue to own or carry, but I'm curious what laws might be prohibitive in his new state of residency. He did take his CCL here a few years ago, but since we now have Castle Doctrine, he has let his license lapse, so reciprocity might not apply. Any info appreciated, thanks in advance.

Wisconsin is fairly gun friendly now days. Open carry is legal. No law prohibits it. Getting a CCW permit is easy. Hunter safety card, military, police exspearince, About any recognized training well do. Fairly cheap I think 45 dollars good for 5 years renewal is around 25. No finger prints Well have to become a Wis. resident. So as soon as he has his Wis DL. good to go. Down load application fill it out send in money. Should have it in a couple of weeks. Long guns have to be unloaded inside vehicle. The fact that he had is Texas CCW should do just fine. I tell people just use their hunter safety card or get one as the easiest and cheapest way of doing so. The regular prohihtied places apply. Post offices, schools, court houses Jails. Other building have to be posted at all entrances. Could be trespassed if ask to leave and you do not. pm sent
