Hunting to me is learning something about yourself as much as hunting an animal. As a teenager I got a thrill out of being able to think like a mule deer.

I started hunting with my father and his friends in New Mexico. I could find a mule deer buck when others couldn't. I did it year in and year out.

Later, I killed my first mule deer buck with a pistol and stunned the rest of the hunting party.

By design, I haven't hunted deer for about thirty years. I just felt that I had killed enough deer, but I have some great deer hunting memories from my high school and college years.
