Similarly related about 15 years ago when we still had gun shows at the Crocket convention center there was an "accidental" discharge. Seems this goober had not checked his concealed piece at the door. He was trying out a holster W/ HIS FINGER ON THE TRIGGER,when it went off (duh) + shot the man beside him through the leg.Nothing was said about it on the news, etc. Next month I asked one of the gate people that I knew what was up.He said it never made the news because the shooter was an Austin cop.Well, that's good news in a way. There have been several discharges + the 1st thing that happens is the gun shows are shut down.Just one more link in the chain. Never mistake motion for action.

Why I always use https://www.clipdraw.com/trigger-safety-for-glocks/ With my glock 42 and 43 carry guns. Also holster choice matters - the whole trigger should be covered. Mike

I really cannot see any reason why anyone wants to carry a concealed weapon with a round in the chamber. If you are going to a dangerous area, might be a good idea. But carrying one normally with one up the spout is wrong.

Yep. He could have had, should have had a SIG Sauer... Glocks are for people who don't know better. ___________________ Just Remember, We ALL Told You So.

Something does not seem "right" with that video. After having seenpeople over the years getting hit or kicked in the groin, the normal reaction is to grab the area, buckle thev knees and hit the ground groaning. One would think that getting shot down there would at least put the victim on the ground in the fetal position. As far carrying a loaded handgun, I have seen LEO's in rural communities carry their guns "Cocked & Locked" and have never understood why, especially in small towns where the major crime is not stopping at the one stop sign in town. Even the rocks don't last forever.

Well an FBI moron in Denver just had an AD with his FBI-issued Glock 19M when he attempted to pick it up off the dance floor after dropping it. Lesson - Just cause you carry doesn't mean you know what you are doing... As to the brightspark in the video, not sure where the point of entry and exit were other than the non-descriptive "groin area". But I have witness three shooting, one an AD at a gun club (femoral artery - DRT with a brand new Glock) and two in malls (both chest wounds - one lived, one didn't). The initial reaction in all three was delayed disbelief. Then the moaning started followed by a quick death in two cases due to massive and uncontrollable blood loss. I suppose everyone reacts differently based on where they are hit and what they are hit with. But us mere mortals should only carry Condition 3 (empty) and learn how to draw and chamber (Israeli Method as it is called) when needed. Well... that's my opinion anyway. ___________________ Just Remember, We ALL Told You So.

OPUS I have watched that video several times trying to figure out what happened. It seems to me that the gun was somehow fully cocked and then discharged the moment he picked it up. I did not see any finger on the trigger or even close to it. He just seemed to be scooping the gun up. Any thoughts? The gun should not get to a full cock stage without the trigger being pulled back, yet something happened. I know this is striker fired etc. but as I understand it, this is a two stage process ie, the firing pin is under partial tension, with the trigger pull providing the remainder of the tension, thus the gun should not fire without the trigger moving back. Glocks are worse than I imagined if that is the case... Admittedly I carry a G-17 overseas as that's about the best affordable pistol we can purchase - Sigs are too damn expensive to field there. While I am no expert on Glocks, I don't see how dropping a 19M partially cocked anything. I am more of the thought as our G-Man was bending over he applied a lot more pressure to the trigger in his haste, embarrassment and inebriation to scoop up his weapon. And most likely this will be swept under the rug and we will never know if this was a stock 19 or had been "tweaked" by some over ambitious FBI armorer. But I hope said G-Man is carrying Airsoft from here on out. ___________________ Just Remember, We ALL Told You So.

OPUS I am not sure it was a Glock. I am assuming that you do. The news sources I have seen do not specify that it was a Glock. Peter. Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Not sure the FBI is supposed to be carrying anything other than their department issued weapon which is the 19M. Of the reports I have read, that was the best guess. But as I said, without access to the "official" report it is a best guess. Certainly appears to be a striker fired something... I hate striker fired anything including my G-17. That's why I always carry C3. I always feel safer with my Sig DA/SA. Maybe P Dog Shooter can chime in. He knows Glocks... ___________________ Just Remember, We ALL Told You So.

I've not carried since I moved from NH, but when I did, I carried chamber empty. My M&P had no external safety (trigger only) so the best safety was the stuff between my ears. I found it as simple to rack the slide as to disengage a safety. I don't know Glocks at all. Doug Wilhelmi NRA Life Member

I have no problem carrying condition 1, I was trained this way and I've been doing it for 25 years; BUT my every day carry has a grip safety, a thumb safety and the holster I use fully covers the trigger and the strap goes over the slide putting a physical barrier between the hammer and firing pin. On the other hand I would never even consider carrying a Glock in C1, I've seen far to many videos and read far to many stories and articles of people shooting themselves while holstering or drawing their Glock.

You're right of course as was the Col.+ I do carry in cond.1.I just mentioned that although I adhere to the Cols. doctrine,I personally am a bit uneasy. That does not mean I don't do it,just that I'm uneasy. Never mistake motion for action.

Glocks are super safe - they don’t go off unless you pull the trigger. Rarely does Glock settle a lawsuit for the safety of its guns and it has been sued a lot by incompetent operators of its products. https://www.google.com/amp/s/b...zed-ex-lapd-cop/amp/ A lot of info on Glock safety related litigation https://m.barnesandnoble.com/w...m-barrett/1101893310 Mike

While a Glocks may be safe, the folks carrying them including the police have far more NDs with Glocks than any other handgun. And while Glock doesn't settle lawsuits, many of the cities where Glock NDs have occurred are most certainly paying out big bucks. If you want to carry one, do the smart thing and carry Condition 3 at ALL times. ___________________ Just Remember, We ALL Told You So.
