Thanks for posting. I've read the book as well + over the years have been familiar w/ the legend. Dying of M.S. is kinda like Patton dying of a broken neck from a car crash.

Sorry, but this bullet through the scope story has been way over worked. Bunch of similar claims out there including Vasili Zaitzev, the Soviet WWll
equivalent.

Most people will remember the "bullet through the scope" whether it is true or not. What they should remember is:

An excellent marksman
A good woodsman
Emotionally stable
Smart and observant
Totally aware of his surroundings
Good with a map
Above all, patient.

Peter.

Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright, that God may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong;

Likely happened more than once over the years. Do you have any solid evidence to refute it or are you just guessing?

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.

NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.

I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

Well said.... I would add incredibly brave with a set of brass ones.

Reading in one of my Russell Annabell's Alaska hunting books about his encounter with an Indian friend in the back of beyond that had shot a bear.The Indian said,we're not any better hunters than you white guys but we're more patient. I sat here by the side of this path for 4 days,I knew a bear had to come along eventually.Likewise the days Carlos crept through the grass to get close enough to take a shot on the cong general on the porch.
