The NRA just can't seem to make a clean break from the past. They don't do much vetting apparently, just wink and move ahead. Surely they could have found a nice Oath Keeper or Proud Boy, or maybe a Skin Head to run the thing. They would have been better served to have found someone completely outside the organization to help change the course. The NRA needs to broaden their appeal, not just pander to the good-old-boys that have wrecked it over the past fifty years.

No proof Hamlin was involved in the actual crime.

Seems like a hit piece based on guilt by association.

Well, he did make a Nolo plea.

I’d be willing to bet that it wasn’t happenstance that this story came to light, but was provided from the inside by one of the group that doesn’t want to change.

Karl, you may very well be correct. As with sausage making, one does not want to know details of the inner workings of the vast NRA board.

Yes, it means you don’t contest the charge but you’re not pleading guilty. Usually done to avoid a trial that you might lose……

A disturbing tale. A guy was talking about unions, but said they started as a cause, became a business, devolved into a racket. Have we?

The NRA was a personal slush fund for WLP and certain executives for decades. Nothing was done about. NRA is getting exactly what it deserves…

Comes to mind after reading this blog that we must remember there is a vast difference between bull shit and evidence!

The closest thing we have her is Alfred pleas named after Alfred v N Roth Carolina.

They are when a person pleads that there is sufficient evidence to convict, but the person maintains their innocence. The collateral consequences and all criminal penalties attach.

I refuse to offer Alfred pleas. We had a special prosecutor offer and resolve a case a one.

Until the NRA Board is completely replaced and its organizational rules changed, meet the new boss same as the old boss.

The plea was designed to enable lazy prosecutors to persecute rather than prosecute poor defendants.

It is a disgraceful feature of our legal system.
