What struck me before getting into the guts of the story was how I remember when we were talking about the oldest living Civil War veteran. (I was nine.) Now we are talking about WWII. Before long it will be Vietnam. Time marches on.

My Father was born in 1897. My Grandfather on my Mother's side of the family was born in 1888 and my Grandmother on that side of the family was born in 1885.
