I'm thinking about buying a wristwatch. I thought I had my mind made up to go for an Omega (because it also fits my budget) when I saw some reviews of Ball watches. Anybody have an opinion on these watches? _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.

I have no personaly experience but have read some favorable reviews. I believe they generally use tritium tubes rather than superluminova for lighting the hands and numbers. Tons of watch info on the forum at Watchuseek. ------------------------------- Some Pictures from Namibia Some Pictures from Zimbabwe An Elephant Story

I'm a great fan of tritium watches for hunting and have tried a few over the years. FWIW, the two I like the best are from the Military Watch Company (MWC) and Smith and Wesson.

You might have to do some websearches, but I suggest the Invicta 5017 to you. I have this watch. It will take a beating and keep on keepin' on. I got mine at Costco in June 2008 for just 50 bucks. Retail is about $400. I like its looks. It's got that "all business" look. I don't think it can be had new from the maker anymore, thus the looking on the web for one...

Invicta watches are still available out here in SA. http://www.have2have.co.za/adv...from=&dto=&x=49&y=14 I esp liked this one: http://www.have2have.co.za/pro...-in-Blue-3454/19238/ ADDED www.invictawatch.com is their own site and www.mrwatch.com has some better prices.

I wore Ball railroad watches for about 20 years and was very pleased. velocity is like a new car, always losing value. BC is like diamonds, holding value forever.

I have a friend who recently received one as a gift and he absolutely loves it. "Ignorance you can correct, you can't fix stupid." JWP If stupidity hurt, a lot of people would be walking around screaming. Semper Fidelis "Building Carpal Tunnel one round at a time"

I was at a mall, while on vacation, and noticed a display of "atomic watches" that up=date automatictaly! Nice looking watches I thought, but then I noticed they all had different times! WTF?? I asked the girl at the counter about that and she was dumbfounded! She said she would ask the supplier when he came in again! Takes all kinds! Shovel ready..... but hangin' on
