I'm thinking about buying a wristwatch. I thought I had my mind made up to go for an Omega (because it also fits my budget) when I saw some reviews of Ball watches. Anybody have an opinion on these watches?

I have no personaly experience but have read some favorable reviews.

I believe they generally use tritium tubes rather than superluminova for lighting the hands and numbers.

Tons of watch info on the forum at Watchuseek.

I'm a great fan of tritium watches for hunting and have tried a few over the years. FWIW, the two I like the best are from the Military Watch Company (MWC) and Smith and Wesson.

You might have to do some websearches, but I suggest the Invicta 5017 to you. I have this watch. It will take a beating and keep on keepin' on. I got mine at Costco in June 2008 for just 50 bucks. Retail is about $400. I like its looks. It's got that "all business" look. I don't think it can be had new from the maker anymore, thus the looking on the web for one...

I wore Ball railroad watches for about 20 years and was very pleased.

I have a friend who recently received one as a gift and he absolutely loves it.

I was at a mall, while on vacation, and noticed a display of "atomic watches" that up=date automatictaly! Nice looking watches I thought, but then I noticed they all had different times!
WTF?? I asked the girl at the counter about that and she was dumbfounded! She said she would ask the supplier when he came in again!
Takes all kinds!
