Did you he kid have to assemble it from pictograms? I hate going to Ikea, but a free handgun would change my attitude. Drop the gun in my pocket and say nothing.

And we still don't have a handgun safety course requirement in this country. I know. Foot in the door for anti's. Whatever. I think that 'foot in the door' defense from pro-gun lobbyists is blown out of context. Sometimes we just have to do what is right to protect the lives of the innocent and the lives of the clueless from idiots (the latter being one in the same). Life itself is a gift. Live it up if you can.

I taught my son at a very early age, NEVER touch a gun unless I was there and gave him permission. Many of today's kids have no boundaries and do whatever the hell they want. As for idiots, what about the FBI agent that was doing some show off dance moves in a club in Denver? He did a backflip and his gun fell out onto the dance floor. In his haste to pick up the weapon, the idiot pulled the trigger and wound up shooting someone. And he is supposed to be on of the USA's finest LEOs? BH63 Hunting buff is better than sex!

"220 guns were stolen from unlocked vehicles within the first 169 days of 2018, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office reported Monday." Wonderful! But we don't want to tell them to lock their cars, or even bring their guns inside at night. After all, that is the first step to government regulation, and I need my 9mm in case big government sends the 1st Armored Division after me. Peter. Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Peter. May as well dress like Santa and hand them out the window to thugs and low-lifes. Same goes for those who leave their purses in an unlocked car. BuffHunter63. Barney Fife strikes again. Hah! Life itself is a gift. Live it up if you can.

The kids know where everything is in your house.FACT. You can not keep them from finding stuff. When my boys were young + at home I never kept a loaded revolver in my nightstand drawer.I always kept a 1911 w/nothing chambered. The kids can not work the slide but any little kid can pull the trigger on a DA revolver.Plus,it's not just your kids,it's their friends when they play show+tell.A personal story here: my youngest when he was just 4 was in my drawer + holding the 1911. I said O.K. let us displace the mystery her + took him down to my range in the valley.Only loaded one round as he would most likely drop it.He fired it + brother the fascination was GONE.My sons are all grown now + firearms consience. You ALWAYS have to look out for the young ones. Just another duty as a parent. Never mistake motion for action.

Norman's right. Kids are ingenious. I felt pretty naked for a lot of years with all the guns locked up securely where I couldn't get to them for a good five minutes or so. But it all worked out well. I had the same rule in my house that I grew up with as a kid. If one of my kids wanted to look at any gun, all they had to do was ask and we'd look at it and they could handle it. But not without me there.
