22WRFAllen Day
I was cruising another forum and noticed folks talking about Allen Day having passed. He used to post here quite often.
Does anyone know what happened to him.

GatogordoHe died, from cancer I believe. I suspect that he had a "No Wiccans allowed" sign at his funeral.

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.
NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.
I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

There's quite a lengthy thread about his passing on 24-hour

This is all I could find, and it doesn't talk about his passing.

ALLEN W. JOHNSON - DRSS
Into my heart on air that kills
From yon far country blows:
What are those blue remembered hills,
What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content,
I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again.

DeweyI greatly enjoyed Allen's posts here and on 24Hr. and was told in strict confidence by a mutual friend that he was dying soon after his diagnosis.
I had tremendous respect and genuine affection for Allen and I wish I could have met him in person and taken him hunting in some spots I know here in BC.
He now stalks the evergreen mountains of Valhalla and we all may meet him there, God Bless him.

N E 450 No2I Talked to Allen on the phone several times and found him to be a nice guy.
He did have problems with the international religious themes here on AR.
Which is why he left the Forum.
And we discussed it...
I did like him...
But...
My thoughts are, since this is a World Wide Forum, SAEED recognizes ALL religious holy days.
I do not see a problem in that, and I respect him for doing so...
As a side note, Allen hunted with Mark Sullivan, and was on his videos...
Allen told me Personally, that Mark Sullivan was the best Ph he had ever hunted with.
And as Allen could shoot, Mark did not fire a shot in his Safaris..
Also, on his first Safari with Mark, Allen's 458 Win Mag, went belly up, and Allen killed his 2 cape buff with a 300 Win Mag, one shot each. Mark never fired a shot...

TexKDAllen was an excellent contributor here on AR and especially in the early days here at AR. He certainly was an enthusiast and knew his way around rifles and rifle builders. Very early on, maybe 2001 or 2002, he referred me to some gunsmiths like Mark Penrod.
He had also already had about enough of the carpola about him using the Echols rifles, etc and being blasted about being an elitist and all that. He was always helpful to anyone that asked that I saw, and enjoyed everything about and around the hunt expereince which is what it is all about. God Speed and Happy Hunting!
