With all the talk of Taxing ammo in the news etc, I'v been trying to find the name of the Tax that is already on certain ammo, rifles etc that is supposed to go toward conservation. It's a very old tax and I think it goes back to the TR administration. Can anyone help me on this? Google is jammed with all the new proposed taxes and I'm having trouble finding it. The Hunt goes on forever, the season never ends. I didn't learn this by reading about it or seeing it on TV. I learned it by doing it.

I could be wrong but if memory serves I believe the Pittman-Robertson Act was instated in 1934. Regardless of the date,it was an act that was solely for the benefit of wildlife. Not so with the current ammo "sin" tax ideas that will only be a cash cow for Washington + not benefit the sportsmen, game preservation,or habitats.
