What kind of flashlights do you all carry? I am considering a new Surefire or possibly another brand. What do you like and dislike and why?

Thanks and God Bless, Louis

My favorite hand helds are all SureFire.

If I could have only 2 they would be the A2 Aviator with white LED's, and the M6.

I use my A2 every night...

Also around the house I always have my E1e in my pocket. I use it every day as well.

When ever I leave my property I always carry the A2 and the E1e...

I have a few Nitrolons "hanging around". I keep them in the vehicles, on standby, in ready reserve...

I always have a Petzel Tikka handy, and when in the field I have it AND the Petzyl with an Incandescent bulb plus LED's. I cannot remember the model name of it...

Headlights are very handy, a MUST imho...

I have 3 children and conservatively about 16 flashlights. Right now I can find 3 of them, 4 if you count the 6 volt one with a mostly dead battery.

Since all of my expensive flashlights vanished or were disassembled a half decade ago I buy mostly cheap stuff at the moment. I have been thinking about getting a rechargeable LED light that fits in a holder that I can screw to the wall by the back door but that's about it.

In regards to durable and decent quality cheap LED flashlights, Energizer 2D lights are the way to go IMHO. They last longer and give a better beam than the same size ones that use AA batteries. Also, get the ones with slide switched and not clicker buttons. It seems like all the rayovac ones use AA's and pushbutton switches and both of those cause problems eventually.

Thanks guys! I think I have decided to get a Surefire U2. I may have to ask for it for Christmas though, need to many other things right now. I will probably try one of the Energizer ones for now.

Take a look at Fenix lights. I have two (TK-12 and TA-30). Seem to be just as good if not better than my Surefire 6P. Give them a look.

Surefire...because at my job I need it to work 100% of the time and they have never failed me in ten years. I am a flashlight whore and have just about every make there is and nothing has been as reliable as my surefires.

I just bought a maglite 3 watt module for a 3D maglite I had laying around on a shelf. The module was on clearance at walmart for $11 so I thought for $11 I could get another flashlight up and running again. Wow, it is sure brighter than the krypton bulb it replaced! So I'll see how long the batteries last. Meanwhile, I had a second 3D laying around so I decided to get another of those bulbs for it. I found one at Sears on clearance for $7. So now I have 2 extra lights for about $25 total, including new alkalines. Whoopee! The modules say to not use rechargeables, which is the only thing I'd really like to do with them, otherwise I am pretty much satisfied with these LED modules as a way of moving my old maglites into the 21st century.

Well Wallyworld didn't have the Energizer lights so I found a Black & Decker Clip light that has 60 lumens for 5 hrs on 2 AA batteries and it comes with two Rayovac AA's. Used it quite abit just feeding the dog and such and am impressed. Dropped it on concrete and no failures. Best part it was just $9.88, AA's included. I guess it will have to do until Christmas.

Mark, I have one of them old Maglights; I would like to find one of the updates for mine.

God Bless, Louis
