Once again, I have run into a dealer -- this one in Alabama -- who refuses to receive a long gun from a non-licensee, even thought it is perfectly lawful and I was going to include a copy of my driver's license and C&R license for his bound book. Maybe I have bad luck, but it seems about one in three dealers follow this practice. I don't know if they just don't know the law, or are so scared of BATF that they "take no chances." It is frustrating, though. From the ATF Web site: https://www.atf.gov/resource-c...p-12-qaspdf/download Any person may ship firearms directly to a licensee in any State, with no requirement for another licensee to ship the firearm. (18 U.S.C. § 1715). There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

Hi Bill, We run into that from time to time with some dealers. Don't know what they are afraid of, the law is very clear. I guess they just don't need the business.

Fear I have run into the same trouble with buying or selling with some people. When I have sold or brought free market firearms in state where it is perfectly legal. The anti's have done a good job of instilling fear. I hear what if it is stolen, what if the person is a prohibitive person.

The NASGD came up with this approach years ago in an attempt to undermine the economies provided by shopping for firearms on the internet. George

Here the post Offices will not ship a long gun from a non FFL to a FFL. Makes me insane. Even, when the FFL will send me a fax of his FFL to place on the parcel.

i would suggest you print out the ATF regs (which the PO abides by) and talk to the Post master. They tried that shit with me, here in Camden, and, of interest, when I took the regs and talked to the Post Master, I found they had a cheat sheets with the proper info on it. The clerk just had her own agenda. The fact of the matter is, if you are shipping a rifle WITHIN the state, you don't need a FFL at either end. Aim for the exit hole

Look up the Domestic Mail Manual on the USPS.com web site, and print the pertinent pages to show to the postal employee. George

Hmmm, fear. that sounds familiar.I had my FFL during Reagan + Bush the 1st.When Clinton came in it was turned into TOTAL harrassment.Too much to type but I was hounded by their agents, even after I gave up my license.I will tell the whole story in the future when I can stomach it again. At this point my one word of very good advice is to send your 4473 forms + bound book (after making copies) to save your own ass.CERTIFIED MAIL! Never mistake motion for action.

I did the same thing Wasbeeman did with the postmaster in our small town in Oregon and it was smooth sailing ever after. Nothing like a nice, crisp, friendly review of the pertinent United States Code. There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

Having the legal authority to do something and having the desire to bother are two completely different actions methinks. Don't limit your challenges . . . Challenge your limits

In my area, I know of several LGS and home FFL dealers that will not handle transfers.. they say it just isn't worth their time. NRA Benefactor. Life is tough... It's even tougher when you're stupid... John Wayne
