There were no cashiers at the Lowe's the last time I was there. It was a weekday when I was there. They just had clicker/scanners except for the returns clerk desk (who begrudgingly checked my items out at my request) and the 'pro' desk which had a line half way down the lumber isle.

Homeless people just don't want to work!

There are far to many Leaches in this country and it is rapidly turning to Socialism!

Here they just started to provide not only free lunches AND free breakfasts to the Poor? but to everyone attending the schools.

Make a million and they still get FREE!!!

Watch the network news in the New York city area and you will see the minority woman being interviewed for whatever reason and many have have expensive wigs, falls, weaves or what ever as well as false eyelashes, 3" long finger nails and bling coming out of the Ying-yang! All on tax payers money!

The economy sucks. My wife of 49 years passed 11 months ago. She always bought our groceries. Now I buy them. Wow, food is expensive.
I’m the opposite, I prefer self check out. It’s usually faster, and I don’t have to small talk with a pink haired tatted cashier.

Yes, the economy is bad I agree.

However, self checkout is amazing. It’s great avoiding the young cashiers who hate taking cash and struggle with making change.

I’m fine doing 3 minutes of work in place of waiting on a cashier….

I much prefer self checkout. In south GA, the grocery store checkout clerks LOVE to waste time talking with Ethel May or Ruby Lee, who they haven’t seen in 3 whole days. I can be in and out of the self checkout line in less than 5 minutes instead of 15…… popcorn

By some measures the economy is good. I guess it depends on your individual perspective. Even with layoffs in some areas, the job market is good. I've got no complaint with the stock market. Mortgage rates are around 7%. The last one I got was 2.625%, but I've had plenty over 8% in my life.

If a person wants a job, he can find one, but it seems the younger generation think they should start out as a "Manager" or a "Director". They have unrealistic expectations of their own value to a business. They can still make $20/hour at an entry level position.

Inflation is projected to be around 2-3% for the near future.

Gas prices are around $2.85 near me, not unreasonable.

What's not to like?

If Bidenomics means inflation under control, near-record low unemployment and a soaring stock market, what do y'all define as a good economy?
And as to homelessness, two observations: 1) It was horrible in the PNW well before Biden came along. 2) Righty conservatives don't give a rat's ass about the homeless as long as they stay out of their neighborhoods.

Adam Schiff's campaign advertisements say he's supported affordable housing, I'd ask "Where is it? Nevada (no longer)?.".

I know people looking for jobs, they're finding either low-wage ones or ones that pay but are deluged with the over-qualified.

The economy has bifurcated, not much in the middle any more...

Inflation under control? Stated because the last report showed it around 3 to 4%?

Well, as a custom home builder, in 2019, our base home was about $130 per sq. ft. of air conditioned space. Today it's $230 per sq. ft. It hasn't gone up much in the last 2 quarters, but it's WAY higher than under our prior presidential administration. In 2020, our company sold 24 new home construction contracts. In 2022, we sold 3. In 2023, we sold 3, with one not being able to close after he lost his job, and the other not being able to qualify with current interest rates.

Low unemployment? I know several people who cannot find jobs other than entry level. One who was an executive recruiter at Amazon is now driving for Uber.

If you're still getting all your news from the legacy news outlets, and that includes Fox, you are still being manipulated. There is a plethora of new avenues to inform yourself these days. The long form independent outlets and podcasts hosting governmental and business leaders is a good place to start. These shows, with the long format, provide plenty of time, IF the podcast host is impartial, to dig deep into the "spin" and get to the actual bottom of issues. The problem with MSNBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, CNN, and the like is they cater to their bases, subject to their advertisers desires on what is presented to the masses.

Don't be a sheep. It's too easy not to be in today's information world.

And as to who cares about the homeless, it seems the Left only cares about them when the Chinese President comes to visit!

"Inflation under control"......

Uhhhhhh... Costs are still going up, just going up slower than when they went "way the F up, way F'ing quick."

That isn't going to cut it for the average 2-job family.

Maybe Bidenomics means that family just transitions to 4 jobs... Or 6?

Guess I'll just ask Kamala, I'm sure she's got it dialed in: "The economy, is based on things that make up an economy, right? (nods in answer to her own question)... And also economic factors, which factor in economics, right? (insert uncomfortable laughter) And when your economy is working, it's working economically (maniacal laughter), right? And who doesn't love a yellow school bus? And better yet if that school bus is electric (very uncomfortable laughter)."

Strongly disagree with you Bill.
The homeless problem is a crisis for all Americans, left an right. Our most fringe Americans on either side I believe are desperate and motivated to end this catastrophe.

The question remains how?

Internment camps? Re education centers or refugee areas?

Really, I believe our fellow Americans love each other love our neighbors but have been unwilling to decisively solve the drug flow across our Southern border and are loath to lock up our women and children for addiction.

I am not an economist either, maybe that's why I can't see a way to buy an $800K house on McDonald's money.

Zillow doesn't show hardly any houses in Riverside under $400K, not even hovels.
Campground tent spaces cost what motel rooms did ten years ago.

If a person wants a job, he can get one in this economy. The problem is too many people think they are much more valuable than they really are, or they add too many bullshit reasons for not taking a job.

The left is crowing about the GDP increase.

It only took about $2.50 in new debt for every $1 increase. What a bargain, LOL!

Employment? 25% of new jobs are .gov and most of the rest are part-time.

Peel those onions if you want to know the real story. The leftists are too lazy. No, wait...they actually don't want to know the truth. Then they might have to vote differently.

I heard the other day that the interest on our national debt now exceeds the entire budget for the U.S. military. I have not verified this but if it is true this is not good at all. Everyone wants everything but no one wants to pay for it.

Please provide a link to this data. I’d be very interested to see it. I was under the assumption that every president, regardless of party, has increased the deficit the past 50 years.
