Abbott says OC coming to Texas http://www.glennbeck.com/2014/06/27/...ery-dangerous/ (skip to about the 10:00 mark to hear his comments about OC) I know that the Gov has virtually zero ability to get legislation through, but it's still great to hear his confidence. Maybe he can add it to a special session to remove some of the procedural roadblocks.

http://gunwatch.blogspot.com/2...-chipotles-open.html The marketing expertise of Moms Demand Action has created a media campaign to demonize the open carry of long guns, especially in Texas. Shannon Watts, who heads MDA is a longtime professional at creating media campaigns: She is not just Suzy Homemaker or some low-grade employee at a small company but a heavy Public relations hitter, savvy on the ways of media manipulation and making her clients look good. Basically she “grows” astroturf for a living. Open carry activism in Texas has become so effective that both Governor candidates have endorsed the legalization of the open carry of handguns, the stated objective of the open carry groups in Texas. The media campaign to demonize open carry is attempted pushback. The campaign has backfired, though it has managed to deceive some of those in the gun culture who have been predisposed to denigrate open carry. The primary tool used by those who wish a disarmed population is deception, or more correctly, the creation of a narrative designed to demonize the gun culture without regard to facts. Moms Demand Action demonstrated this with the use of the famous staged photograph in their attempt to portray open carriers as threatening. Here is the angle that Moms Demand Action used to claim intimidation: Here is a quote form Pliney Gale, who was at the scene and participated in the walk: "The Dallas group called ahead get permission from the store manager—OCT was welcomed to come eat at Chipotle, weapons and all. At the restaurant, the staff and other guests were friendly and polite. There were even many handshakes and “thank-yous” were given to both OCT and Chipotle. The DPD detective (as well as 2 DART officers who happened to be there on their lunch break) dined in the restaurant and assured that no laws were broken. Photos were taken at the event, and it was a very positive experience. There was quite simply no controversy at all." Pictures and rest of the story at the link

As I understand the gun proponents who are against the open carry "exhibitions" say that it hurts the 2nd amendment to "scare" people by carrying guns openly. I only have this to say: If a right cannot be freely exercised then the right is already gone. Speer, Sierra, Lyman, Hornady, Hodgdon have reliable reloading data. You won't find it on so and so's web page.

I've seen a lot of these videos, and it amazes me that no one comes up to strike up a conversation about their rig, the rifle, or anything related to general interest. I know I would. Because my immediate thought would be that these are people wanting an audience, and hell i'll give them an interested and sincere audience. Show me how that thing breaks down with a taco in one hand. Show me how that (to me) drag along sling turns into a a standing shooting aid. I play a bass, i understand weight vs hours slung, LOL!

About typical of these fools.....
xxxxxxxxxx When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere. NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR. I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

Big splash on local (DFW area) TV about where the above mentioned Kory Watkins posted a FB or youtube blurb where he says, "Interfering with the Constitution is treason....pause....and the punishment for treason is DEATH (emphasized)" Damn, I wish the dumb bastard would switch sides, he's killing us. xxxxxxxxxx When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. Some times I wonder if these kind of knuckleheads are a false flag operation of some sort.

You can stick a fork in Open Carry in this session of the Texas legislature. Watkins should be the name on the bill's headstone. Tactics of his kind are the best argument against OC. I'd feel uncomfortable around the guy if all he had was wiffle bat.

Really funny, but unfortunately really true. He may not really be that way in person, but he comes across as a flat out nut who might be borderline dangerous. And "borderline" might be generous. xxxxxxxxxx When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? When WI was pushing for a concealed carry law, it was the Dems that argued against (of course). Their arguement was that you could already open carry in the state (which you could do so legally in MOST districts but some communities banned it). They were for the most part alarmed when the citizens decided to open carry on a regular basis at that point. An acquaintance of mine was arrested in Madison at a Culvers restaraunt for doing so. The 911 call was from a lady that basically was just reporting individuals wearing sidearms in the outside eating area. She did mention that she did NOT feel threatened in any way, but was more curious about what they were doing. Pretty soon 3 or 4 squads showed up and escorted them to the station. One of the 4 had already won a $10,000 lawsuit against a town near Milwaukee for the same thing as they were stopped, questioned, and arrested for doing abolutely nothing wrong, and there was no just cause for the officers actions as they were within their legal rights. Now we have concealed carry, and I know of no one that carries open as concealed carry is generally considered preferrable. Actually, I'm not so sure open carry is legal now that we do have a concealed carry law...should probably look into that. Shoot straight, shoot often. Matt
