Dall Sheep 1/2 mount
On the count down for a Dall Sheep hunt in the Brooks and already trying to visualise an appropriate mount. Have in mind a half mount with the front feet climbing down, all on a pedestal.
Anyone got something similar or interested in posting pics of their favourite Ram?

Unless space is an issue is the cost of a half mount that much less than a full mount?
Really not sure on the cost difference, just think it can utilise space in trophy room so much better, more versatile where it goes. Such as in a corner or thinking of centre of room where it can walked completely around without taking up such a huge area.

Jerry HuffakerMost taxidermists will charge 60-70% of lifesize price for half body mounts. Personally I don't like them, I think a nicely presented pedestal mount on a finished pedestal and habitat is much more eye pleasing easier to move around probably slightly less cost. Just my opinion.
Thanks for photo Outdoor Writer, think a white sheep coming out of dark back ground would be a real contrast....
Jerry suppose I have a "thing' for half mounts, as already have an Elk 'walking' out of the wall and a Thar stepping out onto a rock from the corner of a room. It is was funny when one of my daughters friends tried to 'find' the rest of the Elk in the other room....
pic I found on the Net

lindy2I think the half mount of the Chadwick Ram located in the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody Wyoming is wonderful. Perhaps you could locate a photo of it to see if you like that mount.

LittleJoeDo a life size. Down the road you will regret only doing a half size.

36 years ago I shot a very large body and long haired billy with 9 5/8" horns in SW Montana. I skinned out the whole goat, but only wanted a half mount.
Because of the body size and length of the hair, my taxidermist really wanted to do a full body mount. Back then, his half mount price was $600 and he offered to do a full mount for $900.
Also back then I didn't think that I had enough room for a full mount, so I had him do a half mount and tan the back skin for me.
I've regretted that decision ever since, and I've unsuccessfully applied for another goat permit every year since.

Have to agree. An Aoudad looks good as a half mount, but a Dall Sheep? Gotta go full mount!
