For those of you who have been fortunate to obtain a leopard, what full mounts have you done that you are pleased with? Have you used real wood for a support, laying down, standing up, open mouth etc. Any ideas or thoughts on how to capture realism would be appreciated. Also please attach pictures if possible. I am going to Zim this June and it appears we will good chance of getting a nice tom. CFA

CFA, If you do a search in the Taxidermy thread, you should find a few mounts. Here's a link to a thread that has photo's of mine. Good Luck with your hunt! Take Care, -Steve

Steve Thanks for the info, that is a good mount, I am sure it is even better in person but he does look natural. It would appear that is fabricated wood on the base, have you been pleased with it? It looks good. CFA

CFA, Yes, it is fake wood. But it fools most people and it looks quite good. It's all in how it's painted. The 'branch' is well engineered and gives the mount good support. -Steve

CFA My wife and I are also going on Leopard hunt in June. Using John Sharp Safaris, believe we are hunting in a area called Dande in Zim. Who will you be using for a PH? Bob

Bob My son and I will be with Mokore Safaris, my PH is Pete Fick. We wil hunt Chewore South, which is just West of the Dande area. The Chewore area is a very rugged dangerous game area and I would assume so is Dande. We primarily will be hunting buffalo and hopefully a large sable in that area but our prime leopard area will be the Mokore area of the Save Conservancy where they have been taking some large cats. Good luck to you and your wife, hope you get a big one. CFA
