My wildebest from Zim was mounted with yellow hartebeest eyes. Can eyes be switched on a completed mount? Perhaps painted? ______________________ I'm not a great hunter...just a guy who loves to hunt.

My experience with trying to switch or fix incorrect eyes have not gone well. They are risky depending the methods used on the original job. finnished product is questionable. Results vairy.

Actually a wildebeest has a somewhat yellow eye. I have attached a link to vandykes supply. http://www.vandykestaxidermy.com/product/01370872/ Youd be hard pressed to remove the existing eye without the risk of some real damage and painting the eye would result in a dull looking eye. Any chance you can post a pic of the mount with a close up shot of the eye? Hugh Pro Staff for: In Natures Image Taxidermy

Hugh, That link was most helpful. I think my wildebeest eyes are correct after all. I just returned from a hunt in Namibia where I noticed the yellow eyes of a red hartebeest that I shot. I thought that perhaps with Zim being what it is, the taxidermist made due with whatever eyes he had available. I feel much better now. ______________________ I'm not a great hunter...just a guy who loves to hunt.
