I live in Whiting Indiana, which is about 25 miles south-east of Chicago. I am trying to find a taxidermist who has had alot of experience in mounting elk that lives around 250 miles of where I live. I am trying to avoid mailing my horns as this would be a big P.I.T.A., and I would like to avoid if possible, driving more than one day to a taxidermist. Price is the least of my concerns.

Well, I've been to Indiana from Pennsylvania by auto, which wasn't real fun considering I was a passenger in the back seat of a Ford Escort station wagon. How old was I then? 17? Do they even make such a horrid little car these days? Man, I hope not.

I do, however, know someone who can make your elk mount breathe. He's here in PA and probably the best around, owner operator of McBride Taxidermy... (814) 765-3649. His name is Dave. There are a good number of places to choose from in PA, but he's just that good. Blue Ribbons on the wall tell a story and it doesn't hurt knowing that he's sought after to judge major events as well. A nice fellow to deal with too, who seriously wants your animal to be the way you remember it. Markets his own line of custom casts, and his attention to detail is unreal. Tough to beat.
