Morning.
I shot my first bobcat last week. I am not much on skining. Was told to freeze the whole animal until I could get it to a taxidermyn shop.
Was this the right thing to do ?

Rich, "you did good"!!!.... if its in the freezer.
You should always keep your trophies cold and dry. On critters like your bobcat, never feild dress it, just clean it, keep it cold, wrap it in plastic, paper and plastic again and place it in the freezer. Make sure its cooled off before any plastic is used.
If its going to be in the freezer awhile....a few months or longer.... before you get it to your taxidermist, wrap the face with a damp cloth before you freeze it. This will keep it from freezer burning so fast.
If you have a hole or two from the shot, stick some paper towels or some rag material in the holes. Thie will keep any fluids from getting onto the air before it freezes.
Hope this helps.
