i recently killed a hog and am in the process of getting the skull ready to display. i've already cleaned and bleached it and it's now in the white gas for degreasing. my question...how long will it take to leach ALL the grease out of it. it came from a fairly big boar(approx 250 lbs) and i've drilled holes along the inside of the bottom jaw to let the grease out. thanks for any advice/info. blaming guns for crime is like blaming silverware for rosie o'donnell being fat

I soaked mine in laquer thinner for about 24 hrs and then put it in a five gallon bucket and filled it with kitty litter for a couple weeks then you can bleached it. ________________________________________________ Maker of The Frankenstud Sling Keeper Proudly made in the USA Acepting all forms of payment

I never soaked one in white gas but sometimes it takes along time. Sometimes you think you got it and it sets for a few days and greese hows back up. Only thing you can do is pull it out let it dry and if it's greesy put it back in. That is why you pack the skull in kitty liter or floor dry....it pulls out any residual oils that the solvent broke loose. ________________________________________________ Maker of The Frankenstud Sling Keeper Proudly made in the USA Acepting all forms of payment

thanks for the replies. i've heard that it takes anywhere between 24 hours and a month so was looking for more info. i'll just keep it in the gas until it shows no signs of grease upon drying. also, i'm going to give the kitty litter thing a try. also, in case anyone is interested, i'm using an old water can(the kind with the spout on the bottom) to soak the skull. with the lid on, it prevents almost all evaporation and as the grease/oil collects on the bottom, it can be drained off through the spout without too much trouble. again, thanks blaming guns for crime is like blaming silverware for rosie o'donnell being fat
