I just got my first elk this last month, and I've got the rack sitting on my balcony where it's been below freezing for not all, but a good amount of time since I got it. I'm not gonna have enough money to take it to get it european mounted until early January, will it be OK until then, or will I have trouble? It smells, but not a lot, just a little. What do you guys think? Thanks. - Semper Fi

It's going to putrify and then likely freeze dry to some degree naturally. I can't help you any farther than that as your options are limited by finances. Sorry. RETIRED Taxidermist

Finances-hell. Do it yourself. You can search this forum or the net and easily learn to do a decent job on your first try. Then you can save your money for more hunting. the chef
