I shot a big moose about 5 years ago.(73 5/8) I have decided to get it mounted. Now I need a cape and someone to mount it. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

I would look for a top notch taxidermist, they could probably get a cape for you, and do your taxidermy also.

I know about getting a good taxidermist, its the cape that is going to be hard to get

There should be a lot of unused capes in Alaska,
if your Taxidermist has connections up there he should be able to locate you a cape. Best of luck, that's a real nice moose by mesaurement.

I would suggest contacting Atcheson taxidermy in Butte MT.

One of their businesses is D&C expediters that ships a lot of trophies back from AK, and they might be able to get a handle on a moose cape through that a bit easier.

They are not actually owned by Atcheson's though the last time I was through there they were in the same building.

My local taxidermist is really good, and the biggest company I have seen in the USA, similar in size to Mike Boyce's old outfit in Reno.

His name is Robert Major, Major Taxidermy in Las Cruces, NM.

Give them a call and ask. I am very happy with their work.

Atcheson Taxidermy is owned solely by the Hardesty family that have worked there for over 45 years. They've been in a large new facility for about 10 years. They took in over 70 moose this year through D&C in Anchorage and I can promise you not everyone of those are going to end up as shoulder mounts. Call Tom Hardesty at 406-560-5569. I'd bet money they can find you a prime cape and they can mount it too if you wish. I personally have over 100 mounts in my house that they have done. They do it right.
