OK Wolves, yes we all will recognize that
"It's a young lion, bla bla bla, yadda yadda yadda, argue , argue, your right I'm wrong, I'm right your wrong, etc, etc, etc,"

Now that we have that out of the way ,enjoy. Personally I think that Hyena's about to bite the dust.

My wife named this piece "THE LAST LAUGH"

Speechless. Unbelievable.

How many man hours are put into a mount like that?

Thanks for sharing!

Great mounts, Jerry! Perfect faces and mouth and nose details. Great expression on both.

The problem with the piece ... it never happens!

Where is the Lion coming from? Certainly not a tree! They are not so adept as to be able to ambush from a tree 'Leopard style' ... not even a young male, nor a Lioness.

These big cats are front heavy. They may climb a tree with some ease, but coming down? They usually slink down backwards ... no grace ... no style ... then maybe jump down from the last couple of feet from the ground.

But do a high dive like that? No freaking way! Sorry, my friend ... ain't happening. Only in the mind, does this kind of attack happen.

In reality, the video shows the 'real deal'. "Ntchwaidumela" - the Hyena Killer - shows how it's done!

I love your work Jerry, you know that, I really do! But this piece, is simply trying to extend someone else's thinking ... and totally misses the mark.

John.

Too cool...

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

I'd say thats all that matter's Jerry, but its not. It's all about the quality of the art you create and your artistic quality and ability is un questionable.

Great job...Antone

My problem with you rascally taxis doing hyena mounts is --

they still scare the bejeebers out of an old Africa boy like me. How are we supposed to visit one another if you are going to terrify, huh?

Terrific! (yes, I know)

Could be wrong but I believe the artist you are thinking of is Keith Joubert (very unique style and excellent African art IMO).

Derek Joubert is the film maker/photographer etc...perhaps Keith's brother but not sure?

I made the comment on the film maker Joubert because he has been linked to anti-hunting groups. And the clip posted on the Lion attack has his credit at the very end.

This; from what I have read; was not always the case until it was more profitible for him to change sides.

He is involved in Botswana with shutting down hunting camps and has bought up concessions and is involved with a high end photography lodge there.

I would say though, he and his wife are top shelve artists and their films are first class, often capturing never before seen footage. They are very dedicated and I attended a lecture by them in NYC several years ago.

Here you can read how they have single handed saved the Okavango by stopping hunting; Roll Eyes

You are correct Dinsdale.
Very little of the Eternal enemy story ever happend as they portay it. These animal rights film makers take bits and pieces of footage and put it togerther to create a story that never happend, with very little regard to natural order...Great fiction to watch but to be taken with a grain of salt.
Doing this serves two purposes, they create these elaberate strugles of an indavidual animal, comlete with a hero and an antagonist, so it's interesting, no one would watch real life. And second,Putting animals in these human like, life strugles is a great way to convince people that animals are just humans with four legs, and should be treated as so. Its called Anthropomorphology. A boy is a dog is a pig.
Their films are very well done and definatly talented people....But I could not care less if they ever made another about the "real African Wild"
