Friends-

My 1 year old Grandson, in making the transition from crawling to walking bumped our wall and my old Fallow European mount came crashing down. Luckily my grandson wasn't hurt but, the Fallow Deer mount lost the majority of it's facial skeleton.

My dear wife nixed the shoulder mount idea; claims I have two many of the things in the house already. In my opinion it's too nice a deer for a plain old "Horns on Panel" job. Hence, I would like to get some ideas as to what I could have done with what's left.

Thanks in advance.

A leather covered horn mount on a new panel would be the simple option. I assume the front half of the skull is in too many pieces to repair? There are also a couple ways that the antlers could be mounted to a new skull if you had one available.

You can get a replica skull and have the horns attached. Most taxidermists do this regularly. I have done a few myself.
Google Van Dykes taxidermy supplies and search for a deer skull replica.

No chance you could glue the pieces back on?

I guess, since you're asking, that it's too much of a puzzle?

Is there a chance you could get hold of a real scull instead of a replica? For example of a big buck after the antlers are shed..

Here's an option....I've used these skulls for euro mounts on a couple sets of sheds...they work beautifully.
