I would like some other ideas for a warthog mount. My hog has an SCI score of 34 inches and I would like to do something with him. I have seen the traditional straight on shoulder mount but was wondering if anyone on this forum might be able to suggest something different. I have always thought that a warthog was so ugly that it would make a very unique pedestal mount, if done correctly. Has anyone seen a warthog done on a pedestal? Ron L

Hi Ron. Dont think i've come across one done but it would be impressive and easy for your taxidermist to do. You might have to pay a tiny bit extra for him to customise a form for it , depending on the taxo. Another option is a wall pedestal. (i call them side on shoulder mounts) you could incorporate a leg or 2 if you caped them off also. Another option i though of was having the hog comming out of his den/hole. you could get your taxo to build a shallow habitat base incorporating a den and have your hog comming out of it.

How about a pedastal mount, when it's done it's on a base that sits on top of a table, alittle habitat around it, or just a finished piece of wood always looks good. Attach it at the brisket or have a piece of driftwood coming up out of the base, attach it to that from the side of the shoulder, then it's not touching on the bottom at all, That way really looks sharp! I've done a nunber of heads that way, including a baboon! This way should (if it's done right) give you a much bigger shoulder! One other way, lifesize! that's always impressive! I have two in my home! By the way Nice Hog Ron!!!!!! Widowmaker416 (also Ron)
