I don't and didn't get along with customs very well before 9-11. It is worse now. You'll probably get some better advice from taxidermists but, unless the law has changed, the birds have to be gutted before they can enter the US. And, of course, you can't bring back anything that is not a legal game bird. One of my numerous run ins with US Customs involved 3 of us bringing our legal limits of whitewing and mourning doves back into the US, cleaned by Mexicans and packed in coolers. As they often do, the Mexicans cleaned them and left the heart attached. The wise Customs agent said, "I think I'll make you take all of those hearts out before you can bring them in." Let's see, its South Texas in early September, we're hot and tired and we are talking 120 birds each. I calmly ask if these migratory birds checked their hearts before they cross the border heading North. Dumb SOB didn't think that was funny. I said I'd dump all those bastards right there in his parking lot before I'd clean a heart out of them because some chicken shit officer wanted to prove he was "THE MAN". Luckily, my friends lead me away, and the dumbass's superintendent came along and let us go. | |||
