What to do? I forgot to measure the customary tip of the eyes to tip of nose and around the neck on the mule deer buck I took this fall. I did a nice job caping it and Now I want to try mounting it myself. How do I measure to get the correct size?

You can take these measurements after the cape is tanned.

As Grafton suggested, measure the cape after tanning. I will add that you should make sure the cape is hydrated and that you stretch it width wise...... not length wise...... before you measure it. Also. measure the neck from the skin side, not the hair side. You can "stuff" towels and such, in the face to give it some form, without stretching it, and use a caliper to measure your eye to nose distance. If you lay it flat and align the eye opennings, measure it with a tape and deduct 1/4 inch.
