Rich-Nice mounts but you shouldn't had told us the pictures were slightly blurry. You would of had people thinking they need to go to the optometrist.

kudu4uSkinned and frozen by the staff at Wingshooters Lodge in Ciudad de Obregon. We imported them in coolers with us as Harry is a USDA importer. He had the detailed paperwork filled out and the process was smooth with friendly customs agents in Phoenix. Thanks to you all for the kind comments.

collectorSo a bit of correction on your post:
The bottom Brant in the pic is not Pacific Brant...it is an Atlantic Brant. They are not found in Mexico. Western Mexican coast hosts a large number of Pacific Brant and their coloration on the belly is much darker. So technically the bottom Brant is not a Mexican Goose. I am not sure about the top Brant, it could be Pacific and hence from Mexico.
If the taxidermist passed on that Brant to you (the one at the bottom with light color belly) then I am afraid your bird may have been swapped.
"Mexican Mottled" mentioned here are not Mottled Ducks...Mottle Duck is a full species and does not have two white lines on the wing. The bottom bird is a "Mexican Mallard"...they are a sub-species of Mallard and should not be referred to as "Mottled". It would be equivalent to calling a Kudu a Bushbuck or vice versa. Two distinct species. And the bird in the pic (Mexican Mallard) is absolutely a Mexican bird.

kudu4uThanks for your information. That was the FIRST duck/goose hunt of my life and could only go on what I was told at the lodge. Brants were everywhere.

rjrtaxidermyCollector, you are mistaken, they are both pacific black brant. I work for Harry and mounted these birds, I assure you they were not swapped. I grew up in Rhode Island and have killed several Atlantic brant. We didn't even have any Atlantic brant in our freezers at the time, plus swapping them out would be illegal, that's not something we do... I have also mounted several black brant, immature specimens will be much lighter on the belly. The only huge difference I can see in black vs. Atlantics is the barring on the sides, which can vary greatly between birds, and the white specks on the necks of black brant seem to be larger... I assure you this is a pacific...

I had a US Fish & Wildlife biologist evaluate it. He said that if the (lower) bird was indeed shot in Mexico then it should be considered a "Western High Arctic Brant". Very unusual that you got that bird in Mexico. So I guess that makes it even more special
