What color are wildebeest eyes? I've seen a few mounts with yellow eyes and a few with black eyes. I looked at the pictures of the one that I shot, and it's got "white" eyes from the flash on the camera. I'm picking up my wildebeest mount today, and I noticed that they used black eyes. Is that correct? Jeff

Each taxidermist uses what he considers best, and you see variances in each mount. The dark eyes are usually chosen for the larger African antelope species, and creates less distractions in the face when looking at it. If you just go by the catalog references, each supplier is different also. The referred TOHICKON eyes from Research Manikins are much too yellow for me. I looked closely at mine after harvesting it, and they were a subdued brown. Van Dykes actually shows their wildebeest eye (AFE2 #100208) as being a more natural brown, and that is what I will use when mounting mine soon.

Some animals within a species do differ. Pigs can differ from one to the next as can goats and fallow deer. I use whatever colour eye the actual animal had when i can. browny eye; Animal Art Taxidermy.

As a rule, wildebeest have a brownish yellow eye. Some eye makers use way to much yellow, their not a brite yellow. Blue Wildebeest do not have black eyes!!!!! "America's Meat - - - SPAM" As always, Good Hunting!!! Widowmaker416
