Cleaning Residue From Tanned Hide?

Just tanned a deer hide (hair on) and it turned out real well. I used Lutan and gave the hide to my 7yr old daughter for her b'day (she had been eyeing it badly!). She wants to sleep with it over her comforter/bedspread, but there is still some salt (possibly Lutan) powder residue in the hair (powder 'smokes' out when you brush it). How do you clean it out (vacumn, other means, don't want salt and other stuff on her, etc.?)?

Deke.

Wait till the wife goes to the mall and put it in the clothes dryer.

Use the air setting only with no heat and tumble it for about 1/2 - 1 hour.

(Remember to wipe down the inside of the dryer before she gets home!)

Tanneries do a final tumbling of hide in a sawdust tumbler to help the hide dry and to polish the hair. Sawdust in the dryer, though, would probably not be a good idea!
