Would like to ask of those knowledgeable about such matters how one goes about restoring a mount of a prong horn antelope. The mount is approx. 20 years old and resided in the home of a heavy smoker. The head is in the ND record books and would like to preserve it if at all possible. Hair/hide is intact and in good (no bald spots etc) condition. would appreciate any advice! Thanks in advance, S-M.

The best way to restore an old mount in my opinion is to remount it with a new cape. It's very difficult to remove smoke, grease and such from the hair, and impossible to restore hair color if the hair is badly faded.

I have an extra cape for a small price if I could get it to you
