If you put "fashion" or "art" into the debate. Does it mean that you can throw out good taste?

I want to a RA "art " show many years ago. Where an artist collected every condom, sanitary towel and tampon she had used over the course of 12 months with little diary entries against each one, which she then placed in chronological order around the room. To say it was a little disturbing was putting it mildly.
