I sent Trophy Hides Leather a buffalo cape and money in May (5/14/12) and have not been able to contact them since. Inquiry Emails have gone unanswered and when I called the new number (763-208-2803) the telephone automatically goes to an answering machine that is full (it tells you to hang up). This is the number I used to place the order with Stephanie Jamerson. An Internet search shows there is an eviction notice on the door at the original business location (not the Ham Lake, MN site where I mailed my hide), and others are pursuing refunds via their credit card companies. This company is also known as Uber Glove and Tanning Company and recently changed address and phone.

Any information appreciated.

I had same problem with them.
I sent some elephant hide to them and paid in full. I knew they were moving locations. They had me send it to the new place. They said 60 day turnaround. After about 75 days i started to call them. The first 10 phones calls went to voice mail with no return call. I got lucky and Stephanie did answer the phone on the 11 th try. She said they were having problems with the move and would get my items out right away. After another two weeks they showed up.

Not very good service but they did a good job on what they made for me.
Good luck

Thanks for the information. I was concerned that I was going to have to kiss the hide and money goodbye. Guess I'll have to call 'em about 20 times a day and hope I get a person!

when i started looking around for a company to send my glazed tanned croc belly skin to for gun cases they were recommended by several folks here. ultimately sent them a few weeks ago to Legends Taxidermy in Michigan. the cases are supposed to be here in 2-3 weeks and communication has been EXCELLENT from the start. glad they didn't go to Uber. i saw a lot of game skin gun cases at the Legends booth at DSC and the work AND prices were excellent. well less than half of what Walden and Bork charge and superb craftsmanship. this whole deal with evictions, moving, no communication is a definite non-starter. when the cases get here i will post some pictures.

I had Murray make me a nice gun case from my buffalo skin, but wanted a womans bag made from the hide as well - as a memento of my wife's time stalking buffalo. Walden & Bork was a bit pricy (perhaps not for some...), and that's how we ended up with Trophy Hides.

I called about 30 to 40 times today - no answer. Unless they use earplugs, they'll be hearing phones in their sleep. Wish I had an auto dialer...

Send them to Yost Fur Dressing, all they do is tan but they are excellent, been in business forever. Then you can send the skins to your favorite saddle, boot, gun slip maker.

That's what is so disappointing - I followed Jerry's advice and sent the backskins to Yost for tanning - and they did a beautiful job. I forwarded the tanned leather to Trophy Hides to make a bag for my wife, and that is where I hit the snag.

Yost did a great job at a reasonable price - but if I can't get Trophy Hide's attention and get the product shipped or the hide returned, I'm out the original investment (dip & ship & tanning) in addition to the paid in advance order!

I seem to recall another thread on the taxidermy forum where a taxidermist stated that NO TANNERY WOULD ACCEPT your work AS AN INDIVIDUAL HUNTER. YOU MUST BE A LICENSED TAXIDERMIST. am i wrong-or is this more BS put out by someone looking to mark up the cost to a customer needing tanning only??. is Yost not a reputable tannery( hint- i already know better)??
