I knew a guy that shot one in the Yukon at dall prices like 20 years ago, and the cape slipped, on the ass and they could only use the typical shoulder mount. He had a photo of it next to the sheep to prove the world it was a fannin. It makes me laugh that we split hairs so close on fannin/stone/dall rams for the slam. Another friend has taken California bighorns but not a Rocky, and has a bit of a bad taste in his mouth that his grand slam isn't a real grand slam. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy. Nice ram, beautiful taxidermy!

the beautiful result of the work is what is important ... Fannin were not considered stone a while ago in the past, now record books and money are telling us a different story ...

Nice looking mount Dennis! I worked as a guide many moons ago in Alaska with a guy named Ed Stevenson! Had a hunter from Idaho shoot a ram that sure would have passed as a Fanin. Sheep was in the dark grey blackish shale. His coloration was dark grey on halve of his body. Don't think he would have ever bleached out white!
