Where do you guys and girls get your woodwork done for these mounts? Do you have someone in your shop that does it or do you outsource that?

Basic bases are done in shop. Pedestals, more elaborate and glass encased bases can be purchased from taxidermy suppliers. Local woodworkers are sometimes used. Occasionaly we find extraordinary pedestals in specialty furniture magazines.

Something I've wondered for years, seems like a goodplace to ask it...

Wouldn't beaver-cut stumps, the bases of trees gnawed down by beavers, make great pedestals, especially for American game like deer or elk??

Cut 'em off low and they'd be very stable, and seems like they would just "fit", especially in a rustic decor or competition where you needed to stand out...

here's a couple of "natural" pedestals. One on the left is a heart pine fence post, with wire. Right is a Nebraska pine stump...

here's a cedar fence post with barbed wire for another whitetail mount.
