My Brown Bear rug is in desperate need of repair. I had a roof leak in my upstairs and the water damaged the hide and it split in several places and most of the claws have fallen off. I don't know if this can be salvaged or not? The mounted head is in descent condition. This mount is important to me as it is a Boone and Crocket record. 28 1/16" skull and square 9'8". If anyone knows or an excellent repair taxidermist, please notify my, thanks in advance!!! Focus on the leading edge!

It sounds really bad. I think it would be even hard to fold it to send it off or transport it to a taxidermist. Call a taxidermist in your area that does his own rug work and maybe they can glue a new backing on to hold it all together. I doubt if anything can be sewed. Final answer may be to just cut the head off and display it the best your able.
